Dusha Balkana
Sydney base Australian Academy of Balkan Dance and Culture – Dusha Balkana (Soul of the Balkans) perform song and dance from the Balkans – Macedonia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Romania. Founded and run by Artistic Director and Choreographer Yorgo Kaporis, the Ensemble’s repertoires are all original choreographies by Yorgo. This group is a non political group that respects the beliefs, boundaries, traditions and customs of everybody. Our focus is on the similarities of the people of the Balkans, not the the hatred and Borders which have been created. We are one and the same kind on this planet. I was born a human being, not a nationality.
The band are polishing their instruments, the dancers are perfecting their steps and the food is being prepared.
